Frozen Garden

Frozen Garden

We had our first frost here yesterday, just a light brushing of ice on plants closest to the ground. Today was a deeper one, with even the higher leaves and flowers outlined in tiny fuzzy diamonds. I'm pleased we've got some cold weather at last, it sends all the important signals to seeds, roots and animals that this is winter so they recognise spring when it comes.

However, now we've had the frost, that'll do. Come on, spring!

All the little hard-to-see details pop out when there's frost on them
Tiny sparkling jewels
This is a reflecting sphere in the pond, made baroque with frost
The weather has been so warm lately the dandelions had started to flower again
Once the sun came out the frost all melted
The calla lilies either get flattened by frost entirely until spring or they recover by midday
