Polaroid

I’ve had a Polaroid camera for a few years now, and it’s never not been a crashing disappointment. I’ve seen better Polaroids from the 70s (and that’s the quality I was hoping for), and you’d think the same technology would be more reliable now, but no.

Bright sunlight, the flash, clear high contrast scenes, optimal storage conditions, none of it makes a difference, the photos are all crap. So many photos have bits missing where the emulsion (whatever) didn’t get spread out over the image. Some from previous sets even have streaks. For what they’re charging for the film you’d expect something a bit… nicer.

Here are twelve images from the last sets of film. These also qualify for the Shitty Camera Challenge on Mastodon, so not a total loss!

That middle one is quite special, it was fairly brightly lit. The last one has a common problem with Polaroid, the emulsion gunk didn’t get spread over the whole image.
The first and last ones I was seeing if a high contrast image would work. Nope. I quite like the middle one!
Fart noise I quite like the first one. The print jammed in the camera somehow. The middle one is a classic Polaroid blur-fest. The last one has that dreamy 70s look to it I quite like.
These are the best three! Dreamy 70s colour and the monochrome one is nicely composed. Of course the emulsion didn’t get squidged across the picture in the first two. Of course it didn’t.
